Wear Your Tunes With JawBone JamChain

I’m not sure what I like the most about JawBone’s JamChain — the product itself or the promo video that goes with it. Starring Hasan Minhaj — comedian, actor, writer and alpha nerd — the spot is a geek parody of Ice Cube’s It Was a Good Day, with bikes instead of low-riders and a [...]

Firefox for Honeycomb UI shown off, inching closer to a tablet near you

Firefox on Honeycomb

The Mozilla team has been quietly toiling to bring Firefox to a mid-sized screen near you. It’s already a perpetual favorite on the desktop and has made a bit of a splash on Android phones, now the group has Honeycomb tablets squarely in its crosshairs. It’s still very much in the early stages of development but a few UI decisions have been made, including the choice to adhere pretty strictly to Android 3.0′s minimalist appearance. In landscape mode tabs will be represented as a persistent thumbnail bar on the left, but in portrait they’ll revert to the top with a more familiar appearance. The tabbed Awesome from the mobile version also returns. Check out the gallery below, as well as the source for more detail and more mockups.

iPad Hacks ? Getting the Most out of Your iPad

If you are an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad user, you surely have heard of the term jailbreaking. No, it does not involve breaking someone out of jail. Jailbreak, or iPad Hacks, is the process of utilizing apps, music and other elements without purchasing from Apple. It is also a gateway to third party apps and tweaks. The question is, do you need it? You have been eyeing one application in the App store for quite some time and still [...]

Have a few extra million to spend: Take a vacation on the space hotel

If you can’t wait until 2020 to take a vacation on Virgin’s Spaceship to an orbital tour of outer space, then make a reservation in 2016 for the Russian Space Hotel.   The cost is a bit steep at $818,000 to travel via a Soyuz rocket to the hotel, and then another $163,000 for five days [...]

On Slashdot’s Lost Taco and Apple’s Big Turnover

There may not be enough tequila in this world to see the tech community all the way through to the end of August 2011. We’ve had Googlerola; we’ve had the ever-escalating software patent storm. We’ve had HP’s lily-livered maneuvers regarding webOS and PCs. Did we need more than that? No, we did not. Yet more is just what we got.

Mac OS X Lion Preview 2 released, introduces mega exciting leather bound iCal skin

This is one of those posts that could probably be condensed into a tweet: Apple has released the second Preview of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. If you’re running Preview 1, it looks like you’ll first receive a small update via Software Update, and then you can download Preview 2 from the Mac App Store.

There has been some speculation that Apple is getting close to a release or Golden Master build, but judging by 9to5 Mac’s initial findings there’s definitely some way to go. The Golden Master will probably appear at, or just before, the Apple WWDC in June.

‘Mega Mall Story’: An Addictive Battle for Hearts and Wallets

If the idea of an empire-building game in which you construct a shopping mall sounds familiar, that might be because Take Two Interactive published a series starting about a decade ago called “Mall Tycoon.” It wasn’t part of the Maxis/Electronic Arts Sim universe, but it had that general feel to it.
